Music has been the main aspect of Kevin’s life since middle school. It was actually the popular video game Guitar Hero that really sparked his interest, making him obsessed with being the best guitar player he could be. Kevin started his musical training on guitar and drums at 12 years old, added bass at 13 and then piano as he entered high school. Kevin is a natural musician, but also a born teacher. His first teaching experience came when he was in high school at just 15 years old! He taught about five guitar students right out of his home. Kevin was so talented, he also joined the well known Florida band, Kettle of Fish as the co-lead guitarist and the only musician under 40! He went on to perform all over Florida and record two albums with them, while still only in high school.
Kevin was accepted into the New School in NYC to earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Performance. During this time he continued training on piano with Matthew Shipp, bass guitar with William Parker & Buster WIlliams and also drum set, studying with Richie Barshay (Herbie Hancock group) and world drumming with tabla master Samir Chatterjee. His guitar training included working with numerous master musicians including Nir Felder, Peter Bernstein , Gilad hekselman, Oz Noy, Rodney Jones and Vic Juris. He also wrote his first instructional book during college geared toward advanced level training for Jazz Guitar and spent time composing & performing solo piano (modern classical works), digital synthesis, chamber ensembles and combos. He also has been featured on recordings playing piano, keys & organ for various local rock groups in Florida and the Northeast.
Kevin maintained teaching throughout college, giving private lessons to classmates in addition to instructing for local NYC music lesson studios. Most notably, Kevin substituted for Rodney Jones, the previous head guitar instructor from Julliard while still in school.
Throughout the past several years, Kevin has performed thousands of shows, both as a sideman and a leader. In addition to maintaining an active teaching and performing schedule, Kevin is currently focusing on creating a solo guitar album. His goal is to keep all the music very organic, and as an extension of the sound in its purest form.
