By High school he also added piano to his musical studies. He went on to College to earn his Bachelor then Master degrees and studied with some of the best in the business along the way, including Jimmy Cobb (drummer with Miles Davis). In addition to his private music studies and college education he sought further training at the New England Conservatory of Music as well as the Levine School of Music in Washington D.C.

As an undergraduate in college, he maintained several instructional positions teaching piano and percussion (privates & ensembles) at a local high school and a private studio. While a graduate student, he was awarded a Graduate Teaching Assistant position in the Music Department and assisted with instruction, lecturing, grading and research projects. During this time he was also invited to conduct the college’s percussion ensemble.
